Born in Tokyo, Japan, bass-woman Yoko Kusama began
studying piano at the age of three.  After moving to the
United States with her family she began to play the flute, and
later took up electric bass, studying with Al Ehrich and Harlan
Terson of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music.  Today,
Yoko is a sought-after player who, in the words of her
bandmates, “speaks softly and carry a big stick… or in this
case killer bass lines.” She says her style has been
influenced by everything – from Bach to the Beatles.
